Clinical Workflows

The encounter is the unit of care in Elix. A visit opens an encounter, and everything recorded during the visit, from vitals to orders, belongs to it.

The outpatient visit

  1. Arrival. The front desk checks the patient in and the encounter opens.
  2. Vitals and triage. Nurses record vital signs. Early warning scores are calculated from them where a chart is configured.
  3. Consultation. The clinician reviews the history, writes notes, records diagnoses and places orders.
  4. Orders. Lab and imaging requests go to Investigations, prescriptions to the pharmacy, procedures to the procedure schedule.
  5. Close. The encounter is completed and signed; billing picks up the services delivered.

The patient drawer

A side panel shows the patient's summary, allergies, recent results and open orders wherever a clinician is working, so they do not lose their place to look something up.

Standing orders and protocols

Facilities can define standing orders and protocols, so nurses can act on agreed criteria and clinicians can place common order sets in one step.

FHIR access

Encounters can be read as FHIR R4 Encounter resources by authorised partner systems. See FHIR exchange.
