Communications

Communications handles every message Elix sends to patients and staff, and the replies that come back.

What it covers

  • Inbox: a shared view of conversations with patients
  • Composer and templates: messages written once and reused, with fields filled from the record
  • Campaigns and automations: reminders, recalls and follow-ups triggered by schedules or events
  • Channels: SMS, email and WhatsApp
  • Consent: each patient's channel preferences and opt-outs, checked before every send
  • Analytics and operations: delivery rates, failures and retries

How messages are triggered

Many messages are sent because something happened elsewhere in Elix: an appointment booked, a result released, a bill settled. Those events reach the messaging service through the platform's event bus, so the clinical module does not need to know how to send a text.
